Major responsibilities and accountabilities: • Reserving • Manage the development, implementation and operation of regular syndicate reserve benchmarking. Feedback timely results to syndicates and challenge where necessary. • Produce independent estimates of market IBNR/surplus by Lloyd’s “low level” class of business. The analysis will including estimating the associated uncertainty. • Provide predictive market IBNR movements based on MRRQ projections. (Early Warning system) • Provide support to Financial Services Authority regarding reserving of syndicates where necessary • Manage or assist in reviews of market reserving approaches for large or exceptional circumstances • Provide support to Open Years Management regarding regular reserve reviews of syndicate years in run-off • Provide support to the Head and Senior Manager, and other Lloyd’s departments regarding reserving matters as required • Solvency II • Assist the Solvency II initiative by investigating possible impacts on Technical Provisions due to the change in proposed bases • Support market actuaries by providing guidance on required/possible reserving techniques for Solvency II. • Data • Assist in the collection and maintenance of data used for reserving. A professional qualification with strong analytical and technical skills along with previous work experience in insurance or financial sectors a must.
